- If your water is boiling over (happens a lot with pasta), try adding a little bit of vegetable oil to the water.
- Chopping anything tends to be a lot quicker if you keep the tip of the knife on the cutting board and bring it down from that angle.
- When dealing with cloves of garlic, try holding a knife flat on top of the clove, and pressing down (carefully) with your hand on the blade. It'll crack open and be much easier to peel.
